Friends, who know me, often asked me a question – “Why is poetry so sad?” I didn’t know what to say back then. Everything I would write had a shade of gloom in it. If the ask me now, I will tell them that the most wonderful piece of poetry I have ever felt is happy poetry – a poetry that I see every day, alive with so much energy, fighting, crying, dancing, learning and trying to explore the world - a poetry whom I’ve shown the light of the day, is none other than my daughter. Now, I know poetry is a reflection of what we are deep within.
